Kabyesiza Maximus is a skilled Visual Artist and Woodworker based in Kampala, Uganda. With a diploma in Art and Design from Michelangelo College of Creative Arts in Kisubi and a certificate in Carpentry and Joinery from Lugogo Vocational Training Institute, he combines artistic vision with technical craftsmanship. His work spans various mediums including paintings on wood, but it is his woodworking that truly distinguishes him—transforming raw materials into striking, functional art that merges sculpture with design.
Driven by a deep reverence for wood’s natural beauty and inspired by Japanese craftsmanship, Kabyesiza sees potential where others see flaws. Guided by the essence of wood’s journey through decomposition, he views each piece as a survivor of life’s trials, much like human resilience. His mission is to revive discarded objects, blending Japanese precision with African sensibility to create works that honor both traditions. Each creation is not just art—it’s a celebration of transformation and enduring strength.
