Ssebakijje Rogers, known as @ebisiige bya Ssebakijje, is a contemporary visual artist whose work is deeply rooted in human expression and emotion. Specializing in portraiture, he captures a spectrum of faces and moods to communicate powerful ideas and feelings. Growing up in a family of two, with a younger sister, his artistic journey began in primary school with simple sketches and flourished in secondary school, where he formally studied art for six years. By his final year, he embraced contemporary art, creating his first experimental pieces that marked the beginning of his evolving craft. He later honed his skills further, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Art and Industrial Design from Kyambogo University.
Today, Rogers’ work transcends traditional boundaries, appearing on diverse surfaces—from walls and canvas to recycled materials like wastepaper. His talent has been showcased in notable exhibitions, including the Alchimiography group show at Motiv by Monke, the Ndugu Gallery opening, and the Abryanz Fashion Awards. Currently, he is developing thought-provoking series such as Water Is a Human Right and Solitude, using his art to spark dialogue and reflection. With each piece, Rogers continues to explore the depths of human experience, blending technical skill with compelling storytelling.
